New Delhi/Gurugram, June 30, 2020: India is fighting a difficult battle against the COVID-19 outbreak, with the number of infections continuing to rise with each passing day. One institution that has been silently working and supporting the society at large is the police personnel. These brave hearts are playing an incredible role in keeping the country safe by maintaining the law and order during the lockdown, managing traffic and helping the movement of migrant labourers. In doing so, they are also getting exposed to the virus.

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Consumer Healthcare, one of the leading consumer healthcare companies is thoughtful of these brave heroes and has extended support by donating approximately 6000 specially created Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to the Police personnel in Delhi and Hyderabad as part of our CSR program, Mission Health. These kits were handed over to the ACP’s and Commissioners of police of these two cities.

Kits comprising of KN-95 Masks, Protective Goggles, Gloves, Sanitizers, Mosquito Repellent along with a SOP booklet were distributed to the ACPs of Patel Nagar (Central Delhi District), Model Town (North Delhi District), Vivek Vihar (East Delhi District) and Geeta Colony (East Delhi District). Similar kits were also distributed to the Police headquarter in Basheer Bagh, Hyderabad.

Mr. Mayank Bansal (Assistant Commissioner of Police, Vivek Vihar, New Delhi Police),  Shri Siddharth Jain (Assistant Commissioner of Police, Geeta Colony, New Delhi), Mr., VIjayanta Arya (Assistant Commissioner of Police, Model Town), Shri Piyush Jain (Assistant Commissioner of Police, Patel Nagar, New Delhi) and IPS Anjani Kumar (Commissioner of Hyderabad) received the kits in presence of the GSK officials. The entire activity was conducted with the NGO partner support of Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA- a Delhi based organization) under GSK's CSR initiative.

In addition, 1500 hygiene materials including triple layer masks, latex gloves, sanitizers, N-95 masks, goggles and face shields were distributed for 23 Urban Primary Health Centers (uPHC) in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh which will be used by the frontline healthcare workers in the state.

Previously, as part of the Mission Health initiative, the organization also supported the daily wage workers in Delhi NCR by distributing dry ration and hygiene kits to 5,000 families. Additionally, we partnered with the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) and provided them with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to support the sanitation workers. These activities are in line with our mission to give back to the vulnerable sections.

Doing business by doing good has always been the core philosophy of GSK Consumer Healthcare. In India, its flagship CSR program “Mission Health” is making a difference to the communities they serve.
